BURTON HILL TRINITY TRAILS

Neighborhood Association

The purpose of the BHTTNA is to promote a safe, fun, and beautiful community in which to live.

November 2009

Next Meeting: Thursday Nov 12th

7:00 pm @ 5528 Volder Dr

Bring a Snack to the Meeting:                                  Next Bulk Trash Nov 23rd

LET US GIVE THANKS! Unlike some organizations and businesses in our nation, with your help, we SURVIVED in 2009! It was a year in which we somewhat scaled back our efforts and events in order to become more simplified, organized, and relaxed.

Even doing this, we still accomplished many things to make our neighbor-hood safer, more fun, and beautiful. We had several trees planted not only in our yards but on Burton

Hill which will provide shade and beauty for years to come. We have established area representatives and put together welcome packets for new comers to the neighborhood.

Our Easter and Fall Festivals events were a success! We had great weather and a great turnout for both. Special thanks to Janelle and Lydia for stepping up and organizing

these. They very likely would not have happened w/o them. We heard from Chesapeake

and will start seeing $$$ soon! Thank you to all who have made this year a success.

Crime Report

We have had two reported burglaries in our neighborhood this last week. Both could have been prevented because the burglar entered through unlocked windows and doors! Don't be a victim, lock your doors and windows and keep valuables out of  sight.

Will the BHTTNA Continue?

Thank you to everyone who has donated time and supplies to BHTTNA events. As with most organizations, there is a small group of generous & faithful people who keep showing up over and over again to help in dozens of big & small ways. And that, of course, is the only way an

organization like BHTTNA can thrive.

Every year at our November meeting we nominate and elect new officers to lead us through the year. As of yet, no one has agreed to accept leadership roles for 2010. Our November 12 meeting will be at

5528 Volder Dr
at 7pm and unless residents of the neighborhood are interested in

becoming actively involved, all BHTTNA activities except the website will be discontinued. If this occurs, next year there will be...

NO Easter Event for you or your kids.

NO National Night Out.

NO safe, free and fun Fall Festival to take your children to for Halloween.

NO Crime updates

NO newsletter or bulletin board to keep you informed.

NO Yard of the Month

NO one initiating keeping your neighoborhood clean.

NO Santa Clause coming down your street.

NO free trees to be planted in your yard or along the streets of our neighborhood.

Special Thanks to…

Kathleen Stewart for your willingness to share your wealth of knowledge that helps us figure out how to make our neighborhood a better place to live. Also, for the NUMEROUS little projects you take on that makes the event or project extra special (i.e. the signs for the trees on Burton Hill that recognize BHTTNA for the trees)

Laurie Cockerell for putting up the signs AND passing out the newsletters to our many distributors every month not only without a word of complaint, but with a smile!

Brenda & Jim Byers for jumping in headfirst as newcomers to the neighborhood and encouraging the rest of us old hats by your enthusiasm and willingness to fill whatever need is felt. Brenda- an extra special thanks for baking the zillions of cakes/cupcakes for the Halloween & Easter events that made the cake walks a HUGE success!

Our faithful newsletter distributors. You are our silent knights who, rain or shine, month after month, pass out our newsletters with no recognition. What a HUGE blessing that is to all who get to enjoy the helpful info the newsletter provides because YOU take it to their doorstep. Thank you, thank you!

Joanne Pare. Our faithful treasurer. Not only do you keep us straight financially, but you keep us clean! You initiated our adopting a part of the Trinity Trails- our backyard- and ensure that it stays picked up.

Martin Bernard for the hours of knocking on doors to get us those trees and for taking a special initiative to keep our neighborhood safe & clean.

Janelle McElyea & Lydia Villamil for stepping in and taking on the perhaps daunting task of chairing the  Easter & Halloween Events & for your many hours spent in making it a success for our neighborhood kids to enjoy!

Julia Butler for keeping an eye out for well manicured lawns each month for Yard of the Month.

Wanda Spriggs for keeping up the bulletin board and for making it look so festive, beautiful, &informative!
